Prior to joining Baylor, Dr. Laurie was an Assistant Professor of Business at Nevada State College in Las Vegas, where he started the entrepreneurship program as well as the college’s business internship program. In addition, he advised NSC’s Society for Advancement of Management Club chapter and was awarded the organization’s National Outstanding Faculty Advisor in 2017.

Before entering academia, Dr. Laurie was a Senior Business Consultant with the Kauffman Foundation's UEP-Gulf Coast Initiative for five years, consulting with over 200 companies, ranging from start-ups to enterprise-level firms. During this time, he served as a mentor to companies in business accelerators and as a guest speaker and conference panelist on topics including venture investment, business feasibility and management consulting.

An entrepreneur for over a decade, Dr. Laurie has owned manpower, retail and online companies.
