Group Work
Several of the assignments for the course require group work. Therefore, I have assigned each of you to a group. Please check Blackboard for your group assignment. The first task of your group is to develop a Code of Conduct that will be used to evaluate each member's participation. As you develop this code, I encourage you to consider the behavior that would like to see in your group members. If I feel that your code is not adequate, your group will be required to make alterations. Once I accept it, this Code of Conduct will remain in effect for the entire semester unless the group unanimously decides to amend it. Your completed Code of Conduct is due to me at the beginning of class on July 7, 2003.

You will be required to evaluate your group members' efforts on each of the group projects. These evaluations must be completed individually and confidentially and can be emailed to me or delivered in hard copy format. You MUST include yourself in the evaluations and list all group members on the evaluation form alphabetically by last name. Failure to follow these instructions will result in a loss of points. Group evaluations are due at the same time as the corresponding group project.

Evaluations should be made on a 100-point scale. The evaluations will be used in determining the grades you receive individually for group projects. For instance, if the group receives a 25 on the project and your group has evaluated your contribution at 80, you would only receive a 20 as your individual project grade.

There is a process for dealing with group conflicts specified in the course Employment Agreement. A signed agreement for your group is due on July 7, 2003, along with your Code of Conduct. Steps for conflict resolution include, in this order:
      1. Warning #1 - Verbal Warning
      2. Warning #2 - Written Warning
      3. Move to Terminate, with final mediation

All forms can be retrieved from Blackboard under the DOCUMENTS button.

Group Work Space
There are several tools available to help you work as a group. In Blackboard, each group has designated file storage, a discussion area, and a chatroom. You also have the ability to email all members of your group through Blackboard. If you have trouble accessing your group's folder, please let me know.
