The personalized Blackboard homepage shown below provides access to all areas of your courses. Each section of the page is described below. You can move your cursor over each area and click to read a description.
Navigation Buttons The Navigation Buttons at the top of the window provide quick navigation to your home page, the Blackboard help page, and the Logout button. You MUST logout after you to protect the integrity of your course work.
Navigation Tabs The Navigation Tabs provide access to different components of the Blackboard software. The GENERAL tab is default display when you login to Blackboard. This is where you will find all your course information. The COURSES tab will provide a list of all courses you are enrolled in, as well as the capability to search for other Blackboard courses on campus. The ACADEMIC WEB RESOURCES tab provides access to various Internet resources that Blackboard has collected. (I have not found this area to be very useful for this course.)
Tools The tools provided in this box are useful for managing your courses. The tools that I will be using in the course are described below. You are free to make use of the other tools as you choose.
- Announcements - All announcements from all your Blackboard courses can be read from this tool. All announcements posted on the current day are displayed as the default on the homepage. If you want to see announcements from other days, use the tabs to select the time period you wish to view.
Today's Calendar The calendar shows everything that is happening for a particular day. The default view from the homepage is for the current day. If you want to see what's scheduled on other days, click on the MORE link and then use the time period tabs to select the time period you wish to view. All due dates for the course are lsited on the calendar.
My Courses This area provides links to the individual course pages for all of your Blackboard courses.
Today's Tasks This area shows all the tasks that are to be completed today. I have chosen not to put your assignments as tasks, but they are listed in the calendar. You can use this tool to help manage your time by adding personal tasks.
Web Search Box This tool allows you to search the Internet from the Blackboard site. Results of the search are displayed in Blackboard.
