An
e-Moderator performs various roles during live chat events. While
presiding over an electonic online meeting or conference, the e-Moderator:
- Serves as a champion who makes e-Learning
come alive,
- Becomes an advisor, lifeguard, consultant, technical
support person,
- Encourages students to reflect on messages and
on the topic being discussed,
- Monitors participation and includes everyone
(especially laggards),
- Keeps the environment fresh and open, welcoming
new thoughts and ideas, and
- Allows authority and control to shift among participants.
