Charles E. Davis, Ph.D., CPA, is Associate Professor of Accounting, Ernst & Young Teaching Fellow in Accounting, and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law at Baylor University.

Photo of Charles E. DavisDr. Davis teaches accounting information systems, information systems auditing and managerial accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research on behavioral accounting and accounting information systems has been published in both practitioner and academic accounting journals such as Accounting Horizons, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, Training Research Journal, Managerial Auditing Journal, The Review of Accounting Information Systems, Strategic Finance, The CPA Journal, Advances in Accounting Education, Today's CPA and Management Accounting. He has also published teaching case studies in Journal of Information Systems, The Journal of Accounting Case Research, and The Journal of Accounting Education. Dr. Davis also authored Online Multimedia Accounting Review (OMAR), Harcourt, Inc.'s first Internet-based accounting course offering.

Dr. Davis is active in several professional organizations. For the American Institute of CPAs, he currently chairs the Carey Scholarship Task Force and the Distinguished Accounting Educator Award Task Force. Past AICPA involvement includes serving as Chair of the Accounting Careers Subcommittee, as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction in Accounting Education Subcommittee, as a member of the Pre-certification Education Executive Committee, as a member of the Core Competency Curriculum Evaluation Task Force, as a member of the Group of 100, and as a member of the AEEC Integration of Technology Into the Learning Experience Task Force. He also currently serves the American Accounting Association as Chair and Webmaster for the Accounting, Behavior, and Organizations section, and is a past member of the Information Systems Section Education Issues Committee.

Prior to joining the faculty at Baylor University in July, 1991, Dr. Davis worked as a financial systems analyst on the controller's staff at Reynolds Metals Company and as a management consultant for Coopers and Lybrand, both in Richmond, Virginia. He holds a BBA in accounting from the College of William and Mary, an MBA from the University of Richmond, and a Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
