You have completed Topic 8: Dosage and Administration.
Remember these key points:
- The normal regimen for NuvaRing® consists of 21 consecutive
days in the woman's vagina, removal of NuvaRing®, and seven
consecutive days without NuvaRing®. This 28-day cycle continues
monthly.
- NuvaRing® is easily self-inserted (much like a tampon) into
a woman's vagina.
- The woman removes NuvaRing® by inserting her finger(s) into
the vagina and pulling out NuvaRing®.
- The day on which a woman begins using NuvaRing® depends
on prior contraceptive methods, prior pregnancy, prior abortion, or it can
be a newly begun regimen.
- Women can become pregnant if NuvaRing® remains outside the
vagina for over three hours during the 21-day regimen.
- Women should use other forms of contraception if the recommended NuvaRing®
regimen is not followed.
