If a woman has had a complete first trimester abortion, note the number of the day after the abortion:

Days 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

• Insert NuvaRing^®.
• No other barrier method is required.

Days 6 or greater

• Note the first day of menstrual cycle on the calendar. Mark as Day 1.
• Insert NuvaRing^® on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, or Day 5.
• Use another form of contraceptive (such as a male condom or spermicide) for the first seven days.
