1996 ABO RESEARCH CONFERENCE
Stardust Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada
June 24-25, 1996
As announced in the Summer, 1995 issue of The ABO Reporter, the third annual ABO Research Conference will be held on June 24-25, 1996 at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scope of the conference will be broad and open to all aspects of research into accounting, behavior and organizations. The objective of the conference is to facilitate the interaction and exchange of ideas between the largest possible number of the section's members. The deadline for submitting papers was December 15, 1995, so that the conference schedule should be determined by the beginning of March. The registration deadline is May 15, 1996, after which date a late registration fee applies. A registration form follows. Please note that the submission fee ($50) can only be applied to the registration fee of the author who submitted the paper. (It cannot also be applied to co-authors.)
Airfares to Las Vegas are very competitive and because weekends are the busiest time, a Saturday night stay is typically not required for the best airfares. Las Vegas is just a short flight from Los Angeles and the frequent flights make Las Vegas a convenient connection for international flights into Los Angeles. The American Accounting Association has selected Delta Airlines Inc., as the official air carrier for this conference. Call, or have your travel agent call, (800) 241-6760 and refer to file number P0016. Regular shuttle services run from the airport to the major hotels. The shuttles run 24 hours a day and are located outside the baggage claim area.
The room rate at the Conference hotel is U.S. $52 (single or double) for the week of the conference (Sunday through Thursday), but $85 the Friday and Saturday nights prior to the conference. Please note: the Stardust is unable to accept Saturday arrivals. You must arrive by Friday if you want to stay for the weekend. Given the popularity of Las Vegas as both a convention and tourist site, early hotel reservations are recommended, especially for those persons planning to stay beyond the conference dates. The deadline for room reservations is May 23, 1996, after that date reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only. The Stardust Hotel reservation number is (800) 634-6757. Please give code ABO 96.
