Biography
Jane
Kennedy, University of Washington
Candidate for Chair-Elect
Jane Kennedy was born in Ontario, Canada. She earned her Bachelor
of Business Administration degree at the University of New
Brunswick, Saint John, and her MBA at the University of Alberta.
She taught accounting in the School of Business at the University
of Alberta for nine years before going to Duke University to earn
her Ph.D. in accounting. Jane graduated from Duke in 1992 and
joined the University of Washington in January of that year. She
has also visited Indiana University to teach their Ph.D. seminar
in behavioral accounting research. She was promoted to associate
professor at the University of Washington in September 1998.
Jane
Kennedy's research has been published in the Journal of
Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and Organizations,
Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Her dissertation was
awarded the Outstanding Dissertation for the Accounting, Behavior,
and Organizations Section of the American Accounting Association
in 1992.
She has
been active in the American Accounting Association, serving as
Secretary/Treasurer for the ABO section, Chair of the ABO Doctoral
Dissertation Award Committee and as a member of the New Faculty
Consortium Committee in 1998 and 1999. Her teaching interests are
in financial accounting and in judgment and decision-making
research.

Biography
Joe
Fisher, Indiana University
Candidate for Secretary-Treasure
Joseph Fisher is a KPMG Peat Marwick Fellow and tenured Associate
Professor of Accounting at Indiana University. He received his
B.A. from Brigham Young University, a M.S. in accounting and
information systems and a Ph.D. in accounting from Ohio State
University.
His
services for the ABO section include: Editor of the ABO
Reporter (newsletter), 1998 - present, a panelist for the
Plenary Session of he 1997 ABO Research Conference in Pittsburgh,
May 1997, and the AAA/ABO Panel Session at the AAA Annual Meeting
in New Orleans, August 1998. He served as paper reviewer and a
discussant for the 1997 and 1996 ABO Research Conferences. He is
an active member of the ABO Section playing important roles in the
Section's publications programs.
Joe Fisher
was formerly on the faculty at the Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth
College and at the University of Arizona. He has been a visiting
professor at Thesesus Institute, France, the International
University of Japan and the Helsinki School of Economics. He is on
the editorial board of The Accounting Review (AR),
Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR)
and Behavioral Research in Accounting (BRIA). He
has worked for the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.
Joe
Fisher's research interests focus on areas of management control.
His academic research has appeared in journals such as the AR,
Accounting, Organizations and Society (AOS), Academy
of Management Journal, Decision Sciences, Strategic
Management Journal, JMAR, BRIA, Journal of
Accounting Literature, Public Choice, Journal of
Cost Management, among other journals. He is co-author of the
book Cost Management for Tomorrow sponsored by the
Financial Executive Institute. He is also co-author of the Financial
Management Program for the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA) and has served on several AICPA task
forces. He has completed several consulting and research projects
for Fortune 500 companies.
