Global
Management Accounting Research Symposium (GMARS)
Michigan State University June 5-6, 2004
Global Management Accounting
Research Symposium (GMARS) is a new symposium that will rotate annually around
the world (Copenhagen Business School, Michigan State University, The
University of New South Wales). GMARS aims to promote a "global
village" of management accounting research by bringing together a diverse
set of the highest-quality research papers, plenary speakers, and researchers
from around the world. GMARS will provide a broader appreciation and
understanding of the many theoretical perspectives and research methods that
are used to study the global diversity of management-accounting practices. The
first annual symposium will be held at Michigan State University, June 5-6,
2004.
GMARS will include plenary and
concurrent sessions. The plenary speakers will be: David Cooper (University of
Alberta) on Qualitative Research in Management Accounting, Joel Demski
(University of Florida) on Analytical Research in Management Accounting, and
David Larcker (University of Pennsylvania) on Quantitative Empirical Research
in Management Accounting.
Papers submitted by January 31,
2004 will be considered for presentation at concurrent sessions (no
submission fee). There will be a discussant for each accepted paper. Papers
addressing any management-accounting topic with any theoretical perspective and
research method will be considered.
