Regions:
Kim Langfield-Smith is
Professor of Accounting and Head of the School of Business at La Trobe
University, Melbourne Australia. She has a BEc from the University of Sydney,
MEc from Macquarie University and Ph.D. from Monash University. She is a Fellow
of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and a CPA.
Kim is President of the Accounting
Association of Australia and New Zealand (AAANZ) from 1999 to 2001, having
previously served as Treasurer from 1997-1999. Since 1998 she has been
international coordinator, Australia and New Zealand for the ABO section for
the AAA.
Kim has published in many journals,
including Accounting Organizations and Society, Management Accounting
Research, Human Factors, Journal of Management Studies,
Journal of Operations Research, and the Australia Accounting
Review. She is co-author of a popular textbook, Management Accounting:
An Australian Perspective, now in its second edition, and Reinventing
Competitiveness: Achieving Best Practice in Australia. She recently
completed a monograph for the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)
titled Target Costing for Effective Cost Management: Product Cost Planning
at Toyota Australia (with Peter Luckett), and Managing and Controlling
Outsourcing Relationships for the Australian Centre for Management Accounting
Development. Kim has presented papers at many conferences including that of
the British Accounting Association and European Accounting Association, the
Annual Meeting of the AAA, the ABO Research Conference, and the annual
convention of the American Psychological Association.
