Candidate for
President-Elect:
Charles E. Davis is an
Associate Professor of Accounting and Director of Graduate Accounting Programs
at Baylor University. He received his BBA in accounting from The College of
William and Mary, his MBA from University of Richmond, and his Ph.D. from
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at
Baylor, Charles worked for Reynolds Metals Company, Coopers & Lybrand and
Investors Savings Bank, all in Richmond, VA.
Professor Davis' research has been
published in Advances in Accounting, Advances in Accounting
Behavioral Research, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting
Case Research, Journal of Accounting Education, Management
Accounting, The CPA Journal, and Today's CPA. He received
IMA's Lybrand Gold Medal in 1998 and the AAA Outstanding Auditing Dissertation
Award in 1992. He is also author of Online Multimedia Accounting Review;
an Internet-based tutorial on the accounting cycle published this year by
Dryden Press.
A member of the ABO section since
1991, Professor Davis created the ABO Section's WebPages in 1994 and has served
the section as Webmaster since that time. He also currently serves on the
Information Systems/Management Advisory Services Section Education Issues
Committee. Professor Davis has been very active in education activities of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, serving on the
Pre-Certification Education Executive Committee, Curriculum and Instruction in
Accounting Education Subcommittee, Task Force on Integration of Technology into
the Learning Experience, Group of 100, Curriculum Evaluation Task Force,
Accounting Careers Committee (chair), Educators' Conference Task Force (chair),
and Accounting Educator Award Task Force (chair).
