Currently, I am an Associate Professor of Real Estate in the Hankamer School
of Business at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I have been at Baylor for 8 years.
My Ph.D is in real estate and was awarded to me by the University of Florida in 1987.
My doctoral dissertation chair was Hal Smith. The dissertation was an empirical
analysis of the effect of development exactions on new housing prices.
Research Interests
Current research topics include: the effect of high voltage power lines on housing prices;
economic implications of growth management and inclusionary housing programs;
impact fees and other development exactions, amenity effects and housing prices;
pedagogical issues related to the teaching of basic finance principles; and an
interdisciplinary project with colleague Kevin Barge, in the Department of Communication
Studies, on information seeking strategies employed by appraisers and potential for bias
in value estimates.
