Personal

Disclaimer: I am no expert on personal finance or personal budgeting. But after my stroke during open-heart surgery on January 10, 2017, I created a simplified budget that my scrambled brain could handle. I presented a 3-month version of this budget as a sort of exit interview from TIRR outpatient therapy. TIRR helped me recover my cognitive abilities so I wouldn't have to answer the question, "What will you do if you can't go back to being a finance professor at Baylor?" I could not answer the question when they asked me. Finance professor at Baylor is not my job, it is who I am. Thank you TIRR Memorial Hermann for all you did to help me get back to what I love. Special thanks to my awesome wife, Jennifer, who journeyed through the dark place with me. Thanks also to my Sunday School class and FBC Woodway who prayed faithfully for me throughout my months of rehab. Video clip of training my brain to control my left hand by taking over for those parts of my brain that had died.
