Test Format
- Approx. 55-70 multiple choice questions. Bring a pencil. I'll provide the scantron.
HTML and Wordpress
- What is the purpose of HTML and what does it stand for?
- What is the importance of your webpage title? Where do you create it? Where does it appear?
- Know what appears on a webpage when a reference to an image file is incorrect.
- Understand what Wordpress is. What are differences between Wordpress and full-function web development tools? What are advantages and disadvantages of using Wordpress for creating/maintaining websites?
- What are the types of content you can place on Wordpress websites?
- What are Posts vs. Pages? Know how to create and/or edit posts and pages.
- Understand the use of Categories.
- What are Wordpress themes? What are typical areas of themes that can be changed and how can they be changed?
- What are widgets and how/where are they used in Wordpress?
- Know the difference between a worksheet and a workbook.
- What is a cell reference? Know the difference between relative, absolute, and mixed cell references.
- What is AutoFill? How does it work? What effect does AutoFill have on text, numbers, codes, dates, formulas, etc.
- What is a formula? How are formulas setup and calculated? How do they differ from functions?
- What is a function? What is an argument (also referred to as a parameter)?
- Types of references: Absolute, relative and mixed cell references. Know the effect of copying a cell to another cell
- Know the difference between logical and lookup functions
- For each function below, know 1) when to use each, 2) how to construct the arguments, 3) how to nest them, 4) what their arguments mean, and 5) what answers result from their use.
- Math Functions - SUM
- Date Functions - TODAY, NOW, YEAR, MONTH, DAY, WEEKDAY
- Statistical Functions - MIN, MAX, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, ROUND
- Financial Functions - PMT, IPMT, PPMT
- Logical and Lookup Functions - IF, HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP
- I will provide the syntax for the same functions provided on the Excel exam you took earlier in the semester
- Know how to embed a chart as an object or place it on a new sheet
- Know common chart types and when you'd choose each one
- What is a PivotTable? How is it set up? When and how are its values updated?
- Know why you'd use tables, subtotals, filters, and pivot table (i.e., advantages or benefits)
- Know how to access cells in another worksheet
- Know how to access cells in another workbook
- Know the datatypes discussed in class, what kind of data they store, and what datatypes are appropriate for given fields.
- What is a primary key? Know the difference between atomic and concatenated primary keys. Be able to identify appropriate and inappropriate primary keys.
- What are the 4 types of objects (discussed in class) that we can create in Access?
- Be familiar with the different areas of the query design grid.
- What code is the query design view generating "behind the scenes"? How do we see this code? Can this code be changed? Why might you change the code?
- Know the purpose of specifying "criteria" in a query
- Know how to create and interpret the different types of queries we discussed in class, including all operators and functions. Know how to access data in multiple tables in Access. Know how to choose and connect tables. Know how to eliminate duplicate records.
- Given queries and data, be able to tell what the meaning of and answer to a query would be.
- What is an Access form used for? Know the form views.
- Know how to access the Expression Builder from a form and how it can be used (validate data on a form, etc.)
- What is an Access report used for? What kinds of things can you do with an Access report? Know the report views.
