Responsibilities
I coordinate the efforts of the MBA Healthcare Administration program in seeking and maintaining accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
At our initial accreditation in 2009, CAHME determined that we fully met all but six of the accreditation criteria. For the partially met criteria we were given two years to address the pending issues. This necessitated the submission of progress reports indicating the actions being taken by the program.
In 2010 I wrote and submitted the first progress report. This 75-page report detailed the actions taken to address the partially-met criteria. In response to this report, CAHME determined that we have fully met five of the six pending criteria. To meet the sixth criterion, we implemented a healthcare information technology seminar. I participated in planning, scheduling, and facilitating this seminar and collected materials and data from the seminar. The progress report on this last criterion is due on Feb. 1, 2012 and I am currently writing that report.
In the meantime, we have entered our self study year (AY 2011-2012) for reaccreditation. CAHME has created several new accreditation criteria so I have been studying these new criteria and determining what the program must do to meet them. I have begun writing the new self study report which will be due at the end of summer 2012. To gather the material and data for the report requires significant communication and dealings with the MBA core faculty, the healthcare faculty, and various staff and administrators throughout the business school.
