New
Venture Challenge: A series of competitions throughout the
undergraduate program, this award-winning program is a unique and highly
successful integration of the undergraduate curriculum. Involving over 100
alums and business executives, as well as over 800 students, the program
was created with an initial grant of $500,000 from EdwardJones. This
program won the SW Business Deans’ Innovation Award.
S3: Sports, Sponsorship, and Sales is the only
undergraduate program devoted to sales careers in professional sports. This
innovative program was the brainchild of Kirk Wakefield, and was brought to
fruition with the team of Jeff Tanner and Darryl Lehnus. Students are
guaranteed a job with a professional sports team, and currently work for
teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Fire,
LA Kings, Texas Rangers, and others.
CRM: The world's first graduate program in Customer Relationship
Management was started at Baylor by Dr. Tanner and a team of faculty and
alums. Sponsored by companies like Teradata, SAS, Oracle, Pizza Hut, GEMS,
and others, the program graduated its first class in December 2002.
