Academy of Accounting Historians

The 1999 annual conference for the Academy of Accounting Historians will be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from November 18 to 20 at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel. The conference theme is "The Rhetoric of Accounting History: Conversations Across Time and Space". In accordance with to past practices, most accounting history topics are acceptable. The 1999 conference will place, as the theme implies, emphasis on critical analysis. Researchers from related areas that use historical accounting data are encouraged to participate. For the first time, some sessions will be dedicated to the presentation of cases and papers dealing with the use of historical accounting cases for teaching.

The daily hotel room rate is $135 Can. ($88 US using an exchange rate of 0.65) single/double occupancy, $145 Can. ($94 US) triple, and $155 Can. ($101 US) quad. These rates also apply one day prior to and one day after the conference. The registration fee is $125 Can. or $85 US, or student $25 Can. or $20 US, which includes: reception on Thursday night (November 18); continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday (November 19); continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday (November 20); and a copy of the Conference Proceedings.

All papers will be double blind reviewed. The deadline for submission is June 15, 1999. The results of the reviews will be provided to authors by September 1.
