Advance Meeting Announcement

The AAA/ABO Executive Committee cordially invites you to attend and participate in the 1997 Annual ABO Research Conference. The meeting will be held May 8-10, 1997, in Pittsburgh, PA. A more detailed program announcement will be made in a future ABO Reporter and Accounting Education News.

Call for Papers

Academicians, practitioners and doctoral students are invited to submit research papers for possible presentation at the meeting. Papers in all areas of behavioral accounting will be considered. Papers that apply individual, group and organizational issues to auditing, financial accounting, taxation, public interest accounting, management information systems, cost/managerial, international, accounting ethics and accounting education are welcome.

Call for Panels and Round-Tables

These sessions include invited and organized panel sessions and workshops. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, accounting education, behavioral research methodology and interdisciplinary research issues.

Persons interested in serving as research paper reviewers, paper discussants, session chairs and panel organizers should send a letter to the Program Chair, indicating the following information:

Important Dates

• November 30, 1996 -- Final date for submission of papers, proposals, panels and notice of participants' interest. The non-refundable submission fee is $50, made payable to AAA/ABO. This is required for all papers submitted to the conference.
• January 15, 1997 -- Notification of acceptance of papers.

  Guidelines for Submission of Papers

  • Papers should not have been published prior to the 1997 conference.
  • An original and four (4) copies must be submitted. The four copies should not contain any author identification. One copy of an abstract should be included with the original. Please enclose a self-addressed postcard with the title of your submission for acknowledgment.
  • The abstract (maximum 200 words) should be no longer than one page single spaced.
  • The cover page of the original only should indicate the following information:
    a. Full name
    b. Position and affiliation
    c. Complete address
    d. Telephone and fax numbers
    e. Area of interest for the paper so the most appropriate audience/reviewer group (e.g., financial, auditing, tax) can be selected for your paper.
  • Papers should be prepared according to the reference and footnote guidelines of the American Accounting Association, see The Accounting Review.
  • Papers accepted for presentation may, at the option of the author, be considered for publication in the Behavioral Research in Accounting (BRIA) supplemental issue. Authors should indicate, at the time of submission, if the paper is to be considered for conference presentation only, or for both presentation and publication in BRIA supplemental issue. These papers will be reviewed in accordance with BRIA procedures.
  • Authors whose papers are not accepted for publication in BRIA supplemental issue may resubmit their papers to BRIA without any additional submission fee.
